Claudio Zilleruelo

Director of Transmutación Contemporary Film Festival

Founder and artistic director of Transmutación Festival Cine Contemporáneo(formerly Black Canvas), which takes place at the Cineteca Nacional de México. As a producer, his films have been selected for prestigious international festivals such as FIDMarseille, New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center, Mar del Plata, Gijón International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, Cannes Critics’ Week and Anthology Film Archives, among others.

In the academic field, he served as director of the film degree at the Universidad de la Comunicación and taught at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). For nine years he directed the programming of the International Short Film Festival Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico, a subsidiary of SSFF&ASIA based in Tokyo, Japan, and was the general director of the festival from 2010 to 2014.

His career as a programmer includes retrospectives and unprecedented cycles in Mexico dedicated to great contemporary auteurs and the programming direction of the Mexico City International Film Festival (Cine Capital), organised by Mexico City’s Ministry of Culture. He was part of the selection committee and the programming team of the iconic Riviera Maya Film Festival, and currently directs Taller Tritón, an independent production company, and Zycra Films, a distributor specialising in auteur films.

La rueda conoce mi nombre ( 2024), his directorial debut, was an official selection of the 27th edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) and had its international premiere in the official ZIFF competition of the ZINEBI 66 festival.
