Doris Bauer

Doris Bauer is a prominent Austrian curator and cultural manager. She has been the co-director of the Vienna International Short Film Festival (VIENNA SHORTS) since 2019. Bauer studied Political Science at the University of Vienna and was a significant figure in the independent film scene. Before 2014, she was the director and co-founder of the outdoor summer cinema espresso film and the managing director of the DVD distribution company Filmgalerie 8½.

In 2012, Bauer co-founded the Forum of Austrian Film Festivals (FÖFF) and served as its spokesperson until early 2018. More recently, she was involved in the development of THIS IS SHORT, a European streaming platform for short films. Her extensive contributions to short film festivals and curatorial work highlight her significant influence in the Austrian film industry​
