Roger Koza

Programmer and critic Doc Buenos Aires – Documentary Film Festival

Roger Koza works as a film critic for the newspaper La Voz del Interior and publishes regularly in the magazines Ñ and Quid, as well as in the virtual space Con los ojos abiertos, of which he is editor. He currently hosts the television programme El cinematógrafo ( channel 10 of the National University of Córdoba) and is a presenter on Filmoteca (Public Television of Argentina).

Since 2006 he has been programmer of the Showcase section of the Hamburg International Film Festival, dedicated to Ibero-American cinema. For 8 years he was programmer of FICUNAM – International Film Festival of the Autonomous University of Mexico, and since 2018 he has been programmer of Viennale in Austria. He is also artistic director since 2014 of the International Independent Film Festival of Cosquín and since 2018 of the legendary Doc Buenos Aires. As a juror, he has served on numerous international film festivals (Locarno, Rotterdam, FICValdivia, Ohlar de Cinema, among others), and has acted as interlocutor in master classes with Artavazd Peleshian, Carlos Reygadas, Chantal Akerman, Darezhan Omirbayev, Alain Guiraudie, Gustavo Fontán, Pedro Costa, João Pedro Rodrigues, Sergei Loznitsa, Ali Khamraev, and Angela Schanelec, among others.

Among his numerous publications are titles such as Con los ojos abiertos: crítica de cine de algunas películas recientes ( 2004), the essay El inconsciente de las películas, in the collective book Arte y psicoanálisis (2005), and he has been editor of books such as Cine y Pensamiento: las charlas de Mar del Plata (2007) or Cine del mañana (2010). He has published essays and reviews in collective books and catalogues translated into Japanese, English, Portuguese and French.
