Sinopsis:

Manuel tiene 10 años y este verano tendrá la oportunidad de empezar de cero y hacer nuevos amigos en el camping en el que va a pasar las vacaciones con su familia. Está ilusionadísimo. Y es normal que lo esté, porque Manuel sufre bullying día a día en su colegio. Le llaman maricón. Palabra que niega, pero que todavía no tiene claro lo que realmente significa.

¿Dónde están los ladrones? es una película contada desde «el juego» para niños y para adultos. El cine desplegado como ejercicio de empatía primario para incomodar, preguntar y repensar en torno a la educación, la familia, el bullying, los referentes, la patria, las masculinidades: sobre la identidad.

Identidad, contada desde una mirada infantil que esconde las aristas más perversas, las semillas de la construcción de los filtros sociales alrededor de temas como la masculinidad, la feminidad y la homofobia interiorizada. A ratos una peli de espías.

Una peli sobre la necesidad de encontrar referentes, sobre refugios, sobre compañeros de viaje y personajes LGBTQ+ dentro de nuestro cine, y en general de nuestra sociedad. Con la idea de poner encima de la mesa las herramientas emocionales y la violencia invisible(y muchas veces visible) que la ausencia de comunicación y deconstrucción genera en nuestras relaciones.

Where are the robbers? is a film told from the idea of «playing», for children and adults. The cinema deployed as an exercise of primary empathy to bother, ask and rethink about education, family, bullying, referents, the homeland, masculinities: about identity.

Identity, told from a childish perspective that hides the most perverse edges, the seeds of the construction of social filters around issues such as masculinity, femininity and internalized homophobia. This is at times a spy movie.

A film about the need to find referents, about shelters, about fellow travelers and LGBTQ+ characters within our cinema, and in our society in general. With the idea of ​​putting on the table the emotional tools and the invisible (and often visible) violence that the absence of communication and deconstruction generates in our relationships.

Biografía de la directora/director:

Julu Martínez (Ponferrada, 1996) es graduadx en Comunicación Audiovisual y ha impulsado proyectos independientes como “Los Colores Pardos” (2018), “Campo Atrás” (2019) y “Acantilado” (2018), premiados en el programa de jóvenes Artistas de Castilla y León, el festival Cinema Jove de Valencia, La Semana del cine español de Carabanchel o el festival Internacional First Flame (India).

Actualmente, mientras saca adelante sus proyectos, colabora cómplice de miradas ajenas como directorx de arte, diseñadorx gráfico y estilista para otros artistas. “¿Dónde están los ladrones?” es su proyecto de ópera prima mientras finaliza la posproducción de “Mapa de la geografía emocional” (2023), su próximo cortometraje.
