SYNOPSIS:

Antonio’s memory tells of his childhood in a remote town in Córdoba, during the Catholic celebration of Holy Week. A lonely and curious boy who one day runs into Paco, an elderly painter whom he assiduously spies on. One day, in one of his prying outbursts, they both meet. Antonio is a child with many doubts and he will turn these doubts to Paco, especially those related to death and religion, which are present in his environment. Paco will teach Antonio not only to paint, but also to ask about things, to observe and understand life as a transitional stay.

NOTE OF INTENTION:

The film was born as an approach to the portrait of the traditions lived by the authors, through the formal framework of memory as the articulating axis of the story.

It revolves around the event of Holy Week in the town of Baena (Córdoba), distinguished by a long tradition inherently inherited from generation to generation.

The film approach acquires both documentary and completely fictional textures, real characters, non-actors, in symbiosis with orthodox narrative. With the aim of weaving film fiction into a conceptual web that reveals the qualities of the archive and memory as reforming elements of discourse.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE DIRECTOR:

Luis Muñoz Cubillo, alias: Soto. Born in 2000 in Baena (Córdoba)

During his student years he directed two films: El Cuento del Limonero (2020) and Los Restos del Pasar (2022).

His cinema is characterized by the use of rural areas as a setting. Interested in decentralized production models, he shoots his films, imbuing them with an escapist aura in the face of urban freneticism. His work deals with themes such as absence, memory or adolescent drift, inevitably impregnated with traces of magical realism and phantasmagoria inherited from Ibero-American literature.

Alfredo Picazo. He is a certified colorist, advertising and music video producer. His pieces stand out for their meticulous work regarding colorimetry. “Cuando se hundieron las formas puras” is his debut as a short film director, with which he won the award for best new director at the Montreal Independent International Film Festival.
