NEEDS / OBJECTIVES:

Our main objective is to find a distributor and an international sales agent that suits the type of project and its market, as well as to promote the film at class A festivals, both national and international.

SYNOPSIS:

A young woman flees with a clear objective: to cross the border. When she reaches the last town in the valley she can do nothing but wait. Little by little the days become nights and the nights become days. Suspended in an impossible time and in an unknown space, it will be increasingly difficult for her to leave that place behind.

NOTE OF INTENTION:

Negu Hurbilak was born out of the need to talk about the weight of silence.

The end of the Basque armed conflict coincides with the childhood of two of us, those born in the Basque Country. So, there were topics that couldn’t be talked about. An open wound that became bigger just by being mentioned. At first, for the other two directors, those of us who were not born in the Basque Country, the pulse of this feeling was remote and distant. But by sharing our daily lives we developed a deep interest in the stories they told us. Little by little, we began to understand the contradictions that people had experienced during the conflict.

We did not begin this journey to find answers or certainties. We did it to explore the shadows and the weight of silence that has marked us as a generation. And to find ourselves in these ruins of the Basque conflict.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE DIRECTORS:

We met four years ago at ESCAC, where we were building a collective that shared points of view when approaching our creations.

Erroitz laid the foundation stone for a path of creation and complicity. We worked together for the first time in Euskal Herria and began to lay the foundations for what we are today. Then came Uhara, a short film shot in 16 mm also in Euskal Herria and that talks about youth.

Then we worked on some creations that revolved around the Catalan reality, such as A rabassa morta, also in 16mm. Now, with the collective stronger than ever, we continue to add desire and passion to continue building and creating authentic projects.
