CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROJECT:

The montage version that we present is the cut that we have considered final, failing to include some elements that we explain here and that are of vital importance to understand the film in its entirety.

Due to the speech difficulties of the protagonist (Chorrojumo), we will need to carry out ADRs with the interpreter to achieve, together with the help of a speech therapist, correct vocalization to understand him.

At the same time, we will also consider doing ADRs for Anas along with a rewriting of the dialogues between Chorrojumo and Anas that will allow us to better build the relationship between the characters based on lack of communication, which will develop as a parallel story to the trips, where little by little a process towards intimacy will be woven between both characters, who share the same feeling towards a lost place. Thanks to the staging with which the intimacy sequences between the characters were filmed, the image allows us to carry out said rewriting and ADR recording without problems. Although right now, the viewing we present lacks that process towards intimacy between the characters, leaving a small void in the film.

Likewise, some ADR of secondary characters will be carried out to improve the interpretation in some cases, or to help us better construct the scenes and provide certain information that completes the story.

On the other hand, the Narrator will become a character with more presence during the film, so more interventions will be recorded (some of them appear in the viewing with subtitles) in which he makes the viewer an accomplice and explains from the historical perspective of popular knowledge, and legends, stories that allow us to re-inhabit the present and the spaces we travel through.

As for the music, it is essential to create a soundtrack composed of small passages that invite trance, and that are in tune with the tone of the main theme, helping to better balance the emotions throughout the film. These compositions are already being worked on with an artist from Barcelona, however, as we have not finished their creations yet we have preferred not to include them.

Finally, although the film has just entered into effects and sound design, the version presented has the design done in editing, so all the sound work that represents half of the construction of the film is not present. We ask you to fully understand the proposed intentions and the potential that the design will provide, since it is a film where the sound is very expressive and has a great presence in the construction of atmospheres and soundscapes, as well as great narrative and evocative weight that allows generating the feeling of travel that the film proposes.

NEEDS / OBJECTIVES:

We appreciate the selection in SEMILLERU Lab and we hope that this opportunity will allow us to come into real and direct contact with the industry, allowing us to create links with a production company that would like to support our work and accompany us on the path ahead, since right now we are the search for ties with production companies that, in addition to supporting us, help us generate a link with distributors to carry out in the best possible way the festival distribution plan on which we are working, and which we would like to be able to carry out in the best way possible.

Likewise, we hope to be able to have an evaluation of the film by professionals in the sector who are capable of guiding us and giving us a judicious external opinion, since until now we have not had any type of support or advice.

Finally, it would be a great support to have help to finish financing and finalize the post-production processes that lie ahead: Sound mixing, Musical rights, Color and Formatting, Accommodations and transportation of ADRs for the actors, Subtitling and Promotional

SYNOPSIS:

Chorrojumo’s body in ruins has been wandering silently through the streets of Granada for one hundred and eighty-three years. Under the scorching sun, he waits, with his hand raised, for some currency.

The infinite limbo in which he lives is interrupted with the arrival of a young Moroccan who brings an ancient key in his hands. Together they begin a search through the Ruins, spaces that have disappeared or are in transition, of present-day Granada, in search of the house of the young man’s ancestors; the last expelled Moriscos, of whom he still retains memories.

NOTE OF INTENTION:

Sometimes I think of Granada, as one of those lost, or disappeared, cities, whose place on the map has been erased, but whose memory has been preserved in myths and legends. And in those civilizations that disappeared without explanation, without leaving a trace, and now remain a mystery to us. I think… Who will remember us when there is nothing left of us?

BIOGRAPHY OF THE DIRECTOR:

Lucía Alonso Santos, born in Granada in 1998, studies cinematography at the Higher School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia (ESCAC), where she graduated specializing in Photography Direction.

She focuses her interest on film craftsmanship and the creation of new languages and aesthetics that lead her to develop her work in the field of photography, video clips, non-fiction and video essays, attracted by experimentation with film supports, digitals and lights. Her video essay In Memoriam was selected in Filmadrid (2020) and distributed by MUBI.

Her work addresses the relationship between identity and space, captured forcefully in Who witnessed the temples fall, a film that is framed within the context of selecting TFG projects carried out by Escac Films, with which she ends her academic stage, and which ends independently, becoming her first feature film.

She currently combines the post-production process of the film with the development of her next project, still in the research phase.
